The body’s natural, cyclical rhythms so beautifully connect us to the Earth, and especially through the skin. The skin, our body’s largest organ, is where our inner and outer worlds meet. The sun, reaching its heights at the Solstice this month, set our circadian rhythms all year long, while the skin, echoing the moon’s cycle, renews itself every 28 days or so.
I love to tap into these ancient cycles so simply through spending time in quiet contemplation in nature. If you travel to the ocean this summer, take note of the tides. If there are flowers blooming near you, spend a moment or two beholding the beauty of their budding, bursting and fading away—so brief and so beautiful. Notice how the stars shift in the sky. What fresh foods are calling to you? And also take a moment to check in with your skin: What is it calling for right now? More protection? Deeper cleansing? A lighter moisturizer? Or one that is more richly hydrating?
Enjoy every moment of this seasonal synchronicity!
