Q: How should I keep my skin hydrated in the summertime?
TAMMY WRITES: If you are anything like me, your skin encounters a variety of environmental conditions each day—from air-conditioning to heat and back again, with chlorine and ocean swimming, too.
It’s important to drink enough water, of course, but also to replenish your minerals, which help your body stay hydrated. Summer is a great time for hydrating facials, especially those which incorporate oxygen therapy and ultrasound, for added suppleness. The treatment room is the place where nature and technology meet to serve the skin in so many beautiful ways.
At home, some of my favorite natural sources of essential minerals include celery, cucumber, and watermelon. These can be added to your favorite juice, mixed in with a salad or even enjoyed as-is. And, of course, my whole family loves to drink coconut water, which is so good for the body and the skin, unlike most sports drinks.
